DUKES COUNTY- The Dukes County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the swearing-in of Superintendent Kayla Pachico as the new Special Sheriff of Dukes County. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Edgartown District Court.

Special Sheriff Pachico’s appointment marks a significant milestone in her distinguished career with the Dukes County Sheriff’s Office, which spans over 18 years. Starting her tenure as a Correctional Officer, Special Sheriff Pachico has risen steadily through the ranks, holding the roles of Director of Training and Assistant Deputy Superintendent of Human Services among others, always demonstrating exceptional dedication, leadership, and commitment to the safety and well-being of the Dukes County community. She devoted many years to volunteering with Project Lifesaver, helping families locate loved ones. Recognized for her service, her honors have included multiple awards for Deputy Sheriff of the Year and the prestigious Sheriff's Award. Her dedication to growth and continued education have earned her the titles of Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP) and Certified Jail Manager.  Special Sheriff Pachico’s appointment is of historical significance, as she now serves as the first female Special Sheriff and Superintendent of Dukes County.
