The Dukes County Sheriff’s Civil Process Department serves legal documents and enforces civil orders issued by all Massachusetts and out-of-state Courts including summons, complaints, subpoenas, citations, attachments, probate and family court documents, evictions, levies, etc. and enforces court ordered judgments including but not limited to seizing and selling of property through a sheriff’s sale, enforcing evictions and expediting capias arrests.
The DCSO Civil Process Department is mandated to serve and execute all precepts lawfully issued for service by an officer within Dukes County in accordance with Massachusetts General Law c.37. DCSO Civil Process Deputies have unrestricted jurisdiction granting them enforcement authority across Dukes County.
In Fiscal Year 2022, 664 services were processed through the DCSO Civil Process Department.

Come to our physical address, located adjacent to the Martha’s Vineyard Airport, during our regular business hours. Walk-in or call ahead for more information. Please note: service requests must be submitted and confirmed as received by 2:00pm for same-day service. We accept cash, check, or money order for payment of fees; for online payments, click here.
Regular Operating Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Midday Closure: Effective August 24, 2026 the Civil Process Office will be closed daily from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Holidays & Closures: Closed on state-observed holidays and as otherwise posted
Please Be Aware: Requests for same-day service must be dropped off prior to 10:00 AM and are subject to staffing availability. Please note that there is no guarantee the Dukes County Sheriff's Office will be able to accommodate a same-day request, even if submitted prior to 10:00 AM.
