Adventure Based After School Programming at the DARE Ropes Challenge Course

Dukes County Sheriff’s Office is excited to provide adventure based team-building programs at its Ropes Challenge Course in Edgartown. These programs are available free of charge to Dukes County youth, schools, teachers, coaches, and certain non-profits for after-school visits during the 2020-2021 school year. We encourage students to join in our after school programming as individuals or as a group. Space is limited to 10 participants at a time due to COVID-19 precautions.

With a goal of providing a healthy outlet for fresh air, physical activity, and socialization (while respecting social distancing), and developing youth leaders in the community this program involves icebreakers, games, team-building exercises and ropes challenges. Program participants practice setting goals and healthy challenges for themselves, as well as learning problem-solving skills and techniques using experiential and adventure education.

The after-school adventure program is appropriate for children 5th grade and older, but is most ideal for middle school participants and small groups of older students or youth groups. At this time, groups are limited to a maximum of 10 participants due to COVID-19. Please note that precautions such as glove-wearing, mask-wearing, handwashing, social distancing , and more will be required for the safety of all.

Please note:

  • After-school programming is available Monday to Friday in the spring and fall. Programming time is from 3:00pm-5:00pm.

  • In order to participate on any given day, all participants must successfully complete COVID-19 screening. Please do not attend if you are experiencing any symptoms or illness.

  • DCSO shall not provide transportation to or from the Ropes Challenge Course.

  • We do not offer programs for private groups such as birthday parties, family outings, for-profit companies or non-profits who are charging a fee to their clients for the program etc. If in doubt, please contact the office.
